Slowthai, one of the truest voices of our current music scene, aka Tyron Frampton was one of 12 British nominees for last night’s Mercury Prize awards. As such, he chose to use the awards show platform to express his disgust with the current Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Although the rapper didn’t take home the coveted trophy, he did receive a wide range of plaudits for his performance which saw the Nothing Great about Britain rapper parade a depiction of Boris Johnson’s decapitated head while yelling “Fuck Boris”.
Bookies had made Slowthai out as the favourite for yesterday’s prize but the gogn was scooped up by fellow rapper Dave for his visionary album Psychodrama, which left judges proclaiming the artist as brave and courageous for opening up about his mental health issues.
It’s not the first and we don’t think it will be the last time you hear Slowthai talking about Boris. Back in November 2018, Frampton spoke with NME saying: “Boris Johnson! Look at his haircut. He’s a twat, but he seems like he’s changing his life. I don’t know how late in your life you can do that, but a leopard don’t change its spots,” he said.
“This cunt keeps popping up and now he’s there! He’s gonna be there for a good few years, I thought he was near retirement. But he’s not. Fuck him!”
He even brought out his own range of ‘Fuck Boris’ t-shirts. Either way, enjoy a clip of his performance below.
