Slow Fiction release ‘Turning Down Flowers’ from debut album ‘Dollhouse’ and unveil tour dates
New York City‘s Slow Fiction has released ‘Turning Down Flowers’, the third single and final track on their forthcoming debut album, Dollhouse, set for release on August 7th.
Of the new track, which enjoys a nostalgic glow and a sonic loop reminiscent of LCD Soundsystem programming, Vassallo explained, “When I was younger, I used to love that the word ‘together’ split up was ‘to get her.”
She added, “At this point, it’s unrealistic to expect every song a woman sings about womanhood or an exploration of existing in a certain body to be uplifting and overtly empowering… that’s not equality.”
Instead, Vassallo shared, “We should be able to express being super existentially depressed about our place in a room, and act weird about it. I don’t think we’re typically allotted that space, especially in certain genres of music and art.”
As the third look into Slow Fiction’s Dollhouse, what we see is a project both intimate and observed, or, in the band’s words, “a private world that’s always, somehow, on display.”
The on-the-rise quintet, featuring singer Julia Vassallo, guitarists Paul Knepple and Joseph Skimmons, bassist Ryan Duffin, and drummer Akiva Henig, has also unveiled a list of tour dates in support of Swervedriver.
The rock band began recording their debut album in August 2025 and finalised the final mixes in January with DIIV collaborator Sonny DiPerri.
Their album release show will take place on August 8th at Brooklyn’s TV. From there, they will support Swervedriver for the rest of the month.
