Track of the Day today can only be one song. After ripping through the airwaves of Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 programme (I know, we feel as dirty as you) Slaves song ‘The Hunter’ has been burning through our brains ever since. With riffs that threaten to bring down the establishment with one sweet swipe of a match the duo look set to make the industry burn.
Adding to their current tour supporting Jamie T, Slaves now have a spot on the NME tour along with Palma Violets, Fat White Family and The Amazing Snakeheads, these triumphs are emphatically proven right with the release of ‘The Hunter’.
As sharp as a socially spittled spear the Kentish twosome have engaged with a country that have become annoyed with austerity, bored of banks and fucked off with the never-ending ‘foreseeable future’. With all the punk attitude you would want compounded by heavy riffs and fast flowing rhythm, Slaves add to their monstrous sound with wry social commentary.
All in all, this band are destined for big things, that’s if they don’t cause a revolution along the way.
