Slash says his “heart is permanently fractured” following death of stepdaughter
Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash has spoke publicly for the first time since the tragic death of his stepdaughter, Lucy-Bleu Knight, aged 25.
Knight, who worked as a tattoo artist and as a day-to-day manager at Electric Lady Studios, passed away in Los Angeles on July 19th. Following her death, Slash cancelled a set of tour dates, and shared a message on social media requesting that his family receive privacy during this difficult time.
At this stage, no cause of death has been revealed, and the Knight family have asked “that social media speculation is kept to a minimum as they grieve and process this devastating loss.”
In an initial statement shared on Slash’s Instagram, the family said “She passed away peacefully” and described Knight as “an incredibly talented artist, a passionate dreamer, and a charming, lovable, sweet soul.”
Now, in a new post, Slash has detailed his grief, writing, “My heart is permanently fractured. I will never ever stop missing you & remembering what a beacon of happiness, laughter, creativity & beauty you have always been. & still are. The brightest light in the lives of so many that loved you so much. I find solace in the hope that you are at peace now. I will love you eternally.”
While Slash wasn’t Lucy-Bleu’s biological father, he played a pivotal role in her life and helped raise her. The guitarist was first in a relationship with her mother, Meegan Hodges, in the late 1980s before they went their separate ways and eventually rekindled their romance in 2015, when Lucy-Bleu was a teenager.
Following her death, Slash cancelled shows in Cincinnati, Interlochen, Huber Heights, and Windsor before resuming the tour in Toronto on July 28th. After the show, the Guns N’ Roses founder gratefully thanked those in attendance on X, “Thank you Toronto for a really fun night! You guys are fucking amazing, cheers!”
After Slash announced the death of Lucy-Bleu, a mysterious post appeared on her Instagram account, which was likely scheduled beforehand. However, that remains unconfirmed. “Whether I made you feel excluded, manipulated/ controlled you, told you to quit your day job from the comfort of being financially supported by my parents, or drowned real issues in toxic positivity – I am sorry,” the post read.
It continued: “Countless missed opportunities and connections due to a disgustingly big ego, insecure heart and fear of being vulnerable. May my soul learn to evolve from my poor job at being Lucy-Bleu. Peace.”
