Sinead O’Connor ‘safe’ after heartbreaking video sparks suicide fears
Sinead O’Connor is sad to be ‘safe’ and ‘surrounded by love’ after a heartbreaking video posted on her social media sparked serious concerns over Irish singer’s mental health.
O’Connor broke down in a recent video, explaining how she has been living in a hotel alone with little support: I’m now living in a Travelodge hotel in the arse end of New Jersey. I’m all by myself and there’s absolutely nobody in my life except my doctor, my psychiatrist, the sweetest man on Earth who says I’m his hero,” said O’Connor. “That’s about the only thing keeping me alive at the moment. The fact that I’m his bloody hero. And that’s kind of pathetic.”
“Mental illness is a bit like drugs. It doesn’t give a shit who you are,” she added. “Equally you know what’s worse is the stigma who doesn’t give a shit who you are. All the people who are supposed to be loving you and taking care of you are treating you like shit.”
Shortly after posting the video, O’Connor sent out the address of the Travelodge which is in South Hackensack, New Jersey.
However, in a new message posted on here official Facebook page by a close friend, O’Connor is said to be ‘safe’ and not suicidal.
“Hi everybody, I am posting at Sinead’s request, to let everyone who loves her know she is safe, and she is not suicidal,” the message read. “She is surrounded by love and receiving the best of care. She asked for this to be posted knowing you are concerned for her. I won’t respond to any questions, so please understand. I hope this comforts those of you were concerned.”
