Simian Mobile Disco’s Jas Shaw diagnosed with rare illness

Jas Shaw, one half of electronic duo Simian Mobile Disco, has been diagnosed with a rare illness AL  amyloidosis.

The condition is incurable and caused by a bone marrow disorder that can affect tissues, nerves and organs. Due the the news, Simian Mobile Disco have cancelled their forthcoming US tour.

The band released a statement posted to Twitter to confirm that the tour will be on hold “for at least a few months” as Shaw receives treatment. With the forthcoming hiatus taken effect almost immediately, the band also confirmed that their last show will be April 4th at London Barbican.

To coincide with their temporary farewell, all profits from the Barbican show will be donated to the UCL Amyloidosis Fund.
