Sid Stone has shared his splendid uplifting anthem ‘Hold On’, a track which arrives as a much-needed morale booster that everybody needs right now.
The British singer-songwriter first emerged this summer with the release of his debut mixtape Inside/Outside which was created at The Clash’s Mick Jones studios in North Acton. Now, he has released the first slice of original music since the mixtape and ‘Hold On’ doesn’t disappoint, Stone flexing his musical muscles to produce this lifting anthem which makes everything feel like they are OK—even if it is just momentarily.
The track was written and recorded at Jagz Kooner’s Ladbroke Grove studio that saw Sid collaborate with the producer as well as Tristan Landymore who co-wrote the emphatic ‘This Is England’ with Kano. ‘Hold On’ has visceral energy running through it which is infectious and also allows Stone to show off his versatile skill set, which is all bundled up into this three and a half minute dosage of joy.
Speaking of the track, Sid explains: “‘Hold On’ is about trying to remember to give. That despite the paradigm of scarcity we live in, there really is enough for everyone’s needs. It’s about not allowing materialism to lead you away from your inner life while accepting that’s a fucking hard thing to do.”
Adding: “It’s a mad video that spins around Maxilla Social Club in a blaze of joyful thrusting,” Sid said on the visuals for the track. “To me it’s about speaking up, not being afraid to be who you are, giving yourself to the world. The importance of self-expression and personal freedom”.
‘Hold On’ also the latest episode of Far Out Magazine’s new Facebook series ‘Emerging Sounds’, a project which shines a light on some of the best new music that’s simmering under the radar right now.
