Sharon Osbourne reveals plans to bring OzzFest back
Sharon Osbourne has revealed that she is currently in talks to bring OzzFest back.
The touring festival was founded by Sharon and her late husband, Ozzy, in 1996, after Lollapalooza rejected the opportunity for the former Black Sabbath frontman to participate in their touring festival programme.
The last edition of the festival ran in 2018, and over the years, it provided a consistent platform for emerging talent to perform alongside the biggest names in rock on huge stages across the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe and Japan.
Despite Osbourne’s sad passing in the summer of 2025, Sharon has surprisingly confirmed that she’s currently locked in negotiations with Live Nation regarding the event’s return.
During a new interview with Billboard, Osbourne revealed, “I’ve been talking to Live Nation about bringing [Ozzfest] back recently.”
She elaborated on the cultural impact of OzzFest, proudly stating, “It was something Ozzy was very passionate about: giving young talent a stage in front of a lot of people. We really started metal festivals in this country.”
The music mogul added, “It was [replicated but] never done with the spirit of what ours was, because ours was a place for new talent. It was like summer camp for kids.”
Although nothing is set in stone regarding the return of OzzFest, Osbourne did state that it could possibly make a comeback as early as 2027. She also promised that things would slightly change to reflect the times with the line-up, expressing, “I’d like to mix up the genres”.
Additionally, Sharon shared that she’s in talks with Live Nation about another project involving Black Sabbath’s music, which, if it becomes a reality, will see their material performed by orchestras.
Meanwhile, it was recently confirmed by the Grammys that Post Malone, Slash, Duff McKagan, and Chad Smith will participate in a tribute for Osbourne on February 1st during the in memoriam segment of the upcoming ceremony.
