Sex Pistols with Frank Carter postpone North America and South America tour
The Sex Pistols with Frank Carter have cancelled their upcoming tour in North and South America due to an injury to Steve Jones.
The punk legends were due to begin their North America tour at the Dallas Longhorn Ballroom on September 16th. They were also set to visit cities including Washington, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Toronto, Seattle, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Cleveland, Detroit and San Francisco.
Additionally, their run was due to include the Brooklyn CBGB Festival on September 27th and Riot Fest in Chicago on September 19th. In Latin America, they were due to play shows, including in Sao Paulo on September 7th, which will no longer be going ahead.
Taking to the band’s social media, Jones shared with fans on Instagram: “I’ve got some good news and bad news. What do you want first? Okay, the bad news: I’ve broken my wrist, so unfortunately we won’t be doing any shows for a while.”
On a positive note, Jones added, “The good news is the surgeon said I will be back playing guitar in the not-too-distant future. The other good news is I’ll be 70 tomorrow! God bless, and God save the wrist.”
The band then confirmed, “The performances will be postponed and rescheduled when Steve has fully recovered. Please check local venue websites and our social media for more information.”
At this stage, there is no time frame for when the Sex Pistols expect Jones to be ready to perform again.
In a four-and-a-half-star review of their show at Kentish Town Forum in London in September 2024, Far Out wrote: “With Frank Carter stepping into Johnny Rotten’s shoes with ease, it all falls into place. Carter’s performance is so perfect, so full of exactly the kind of gobby attitude, raging spirit and pure rockstar power, that it makes the whole band make sense again.”
