Seth Rogen’s takedown of Donald Trump removed from awards show broadcast

Seth Rogen‘s comments about Donald Trump’s administration were cut from the broadcast of the Breakthrough Prizes ceremony.

The event took place on April 5th and was live-streamed online. However, it has since been re-uploaded to exclude remarks made by Rogan about Trump’s administration and the support he received from those in the technology sector, who host the Breakthrough Prizes event.

The Breakthrough Prize Foundation was founded by Yuri Milner, Mark Zuckerberg, and Sergey Brin. Each award recipient receives $3 million. Following Trump’s election win, Zuckerberg and Brin visited Trump at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.

“It’s amazing that others in this room underwrote electing a man who, in the last week, single-handedly destroyed all of American science,” Rogen reportedly said after being introduced on stage by James Corden in the section that has since been removed.

Rogen then turned his attention to Robert F Kennedy Jr, who is an outspoken critic of vaccines and the pharmaceutical industry, reportedly adding, “It’s amazing how much good science you can destroy with $320 million and RFK Jr, very fast.”

In response, a spokesperson for the Breakthrough Prize Foundation explained to The Hollywood Reporter why Rogen’s comments were removed, claiming, “This year’s ceremony lasted longer than the prior few years, and several edits were made in order to meet the originally planned run time.”

Rogen’s new series, The Studio, is currently streaming on Apple TV+ with a new episode arriving each week on the platform.

Its premise sees Rogan star as Matt Remick, the newly appointed head of embattled Continental Studios, a dream he’s been pursuing all of his life. However, once he manages to climb to the top of the ladder, Remick soon discovers that his lifelong ambition isn’t everything he thought it would be.
