Sam Smith has revealed in a new interview that they “100%” had coronavirus despite not being tested for the deadly virus.
The singer has also made the decision to change the title of their upcoming third record which was originally planned to be named To Die For and be released on May 1st but, in light of current circumstances, Smith has decided to change the title as well as postponing the release.
Smith was speaking to Zane Lowe to promote their new collaboration ‘I’m Ready’ with Demi Lovato, the singer made the revelation about the virus: “I didn’t get tested but I know I had it. 100 per cent had it. Everything I’ve read completely pointed to that. So yeah, I think I definitely had it.”
They then continued: “As everyone was kind of really on lockdown, that’s when I got over it, luckily. The first two weeks, I just wanted to sing. I don’t want to sing my songs, I don’t want to sing and film it. I just want to walk around the house and sing.”
Talking about the decision to hold off on the new album, for now, Smith said to the Apple Music host: “I have done a lot of thinking the last few weeks and feel that the title of my album and imminent release doesn’t feel right, so I have come to the decision to continue working on the album and make some important changes and additions.
“I will be renaming my album and pushing back the release date — both of which are to be confirmed at this time.”
