Sam Raimi and Jordan Peele set to collaborate for the first time on new horror film

Prolific horror directors Sam Raimi and Jordan Peele are set to collaborate for the first time as producers on a new film.

According to Deadline, the movie is set to be titled Portrait of God and directed by rising filmmaker Dylan Clark, who is also writing the script alongside Joe Russo.

Although the specific plot details of the film are yet to be revealed, it is said to expand on the universe of Clark’s viral horror short film of the same name. In that version of the story, it centred on a young woman who was searching for answers as to what God looks like.

However, the project evidently now has major backing on board with its vision, as horror giants Raimi and Peele are coming together for the very first time in their respective careers to produce, and the movie will eventually be released by Universal Pictures.

Clark has become a rising star of the genre since he started posting his work online to YouTube. His videos have gone viral many times over the years, with the Portrait of God short film in particular having been viewed in excess of 8.6 million times since it first premiered on the site in August 2022.

Sam Raimi has become known as one of the most high-profile and versatile directors in the film landscape, helming everything from supernatural horrors such as Drag Me To Hell, to massive Hollywood blockbusters, including the Spider-Man trilogy from 2002 until 2007.

Similarly, Peele has gained huge critical acclaim for his filmmaking over the years, most notably winning an Oscar in 2017 for ‘Best Original Screenplay’ for his directorial debut in Get Out.

He has not directed a film since 2022’s Nope, but has more recently produced a number of films, including Wendell and Wild, Monkey Man, and Him

No further details on the plot, casting, or release date for Portrait of God have yet been revealed at this time.
