Sabrina Carpenter announces collaboration with Dolly Parton
Reigning pop princess Sabrina Carpenter is set to collaborate with country legend Dolly Parton on a new version of her smash hit ‘Please Please Please’.
The iconic pairing was announced on February 2nd, following Carpenter’s successful night at the Grammys. She wrote on Instagram: “Short n’ Sweet deluxe is now available for pre order… out February 14th.”
Referencing the track list pictured as a scrawled note in her post, she continued: “And yes that does say featuring Miss Dolly Parton… she wouldn’t want me to swear but holy shit!!!!”
The combining of forces between these two female powerhouses comes at no better time for Carpenter. At the Grammys, she picked up two awards, ‘Best Pop Vocal Album’ for Short n’ Sweet and ‘Best Pop Vocal Performance’ for its standout single ‘Espresso’.
In that vein, she delivered an appropriately energetic performance of the hit song during the ceremony, cementing herself definitively as a new staple of the pop canon.
For the part of her new deluxe album arriving on Valentine’s Day, Parton’s contribution is no coincidence given that the producer of ‘Please Please Please’, Jack Antonoff, previously told Rolling Stone that the song had a “real Dolly feel”. The deluxe version of Short n’ Sweet will also feature five new tracks including ‘Busy Woman’, which Carpenter premiered during her Grammys performance.
The success of the original album was seismic upon its release in August 2024, marking Carpenter’s sixth studio effort but first major commercial breakthrough. It spawned worldwide chart-toppers in the form of ‘Please Please Please’, ‘Espresso’, and ‘Taste’, and the record as a whole hit number one in 18 countries.
The European leg of its associated world tour will kick off in Dublin on March 3rd, 2025.
