Ryan Reynolds remaking ‘Home Alone’ into stoner film ‘Stoned Alone’
Ryan Reynolds is developing an alternative, comedic take on the cult Home Alone franchise with his stoner film Stoned Alone.
Reynolds is attached to produce the film with Augustine Frizzell as named as the project’s director.
Moving away from the Home Alone’s beloved John Hughes family films, Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider wrote the script about a pot-smoking “twenty-something weed growing loser” who misses a plane which was destined for a ski holiday. Instead, he spends Christmas along, gets high, and has to fend off thieves who break into his house.
Here’s the film’s synopsis:
‘[Stoned Alone] centres around a twenty-something weed growing loser who misses the plane for his holiday ski trip. He makes the best of things by getting high. Paranoia sets in and he believes he hears someone break into his house. Turns out thieves have broken in. Fully stoned and fueled by paranoia, he tries to thwart the thieves and defend his castle.’
While there’s no news on cast or release date, it’s through the film could arrive in cinemas in time for the 20th anniversary of the original.
