Russo brothers tell fans ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is “bigger than anything we’ve ever done”

The Russo brothers have told fans that Marvel’s upcoming epic Avengers: Doomsday is “bigger than anything we’ve ever done.”

The directors were speaking at the D23 expo over the weekend, which unveils all the projects that Disney have in the pipeline for the next year. With the blockbuster set to be released on December 18th, 2026, Anthony and Joseph Russo tantalised fans with a selection of teasers in store.

The brothers appeared via video link at the conference from London, where shooting for Avengers: Doomsday is currently in progress.

According to The Direct, they said the film is “bigger than anything we’ve ever done,” adding, “This movie is, to say the least, a big one for us. It is bigger than anything we have ever done. We are bringing together so many of your favorite heroes to face one of the greatest threats to the MCU.”

Although official plot details are unsurprisingly being kept tightly under wraps, their appearance at the event also featured a video interspersed with clips of new and classic Marvel films, highlighting the range of characters that are set to feature in Avengers: Doomsday.

This included everything from the most recent Fantastic Four: First Steps and Thunderbolts* to classic Marvel cuts such as X-Men and Captain America: Brave New World. Elsewhere, Ant-Man actor Paul Rudd also confirmed his return to the franchise through a brief cameo appearance in the clip.

The final teaser offered to fans during the D23 expo was the unveiling of a new logo for the film, showing a different font compared to the initial press materials used to reveal the making of the movie.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on December 18th, 2026.
