Run The Jewels release new album 'RTJ4' early: "Fuck it, why wait?"

Run The Jewels have released their highly-anticipated new album RTJ4 for free. The record arrives ahead of it’s scheduled release date due to current circumstances with the duo simply stating: “Fuck it, why wait”.

Killer Mike and El-P’s latest joint project was due to be released this coming Friday but, instead, they have gifted it to their fans early. The record features collaboration’s from Mavis Staples, Josh Homme, 2 Chainz, Zach De La Rocha, Pharrell Williams and more.

“Fuck it, why wait,” the duo wrote explaining the early release. “The world is infested with bullshit so here’s something raw to listen to while you deal with it all. We hope it brings you some joy. Stay safe and hopeful out there.”

Killer Mike recently gained universal praise for the poignant speech he gave in Atlanta last weekend in the wake of the murder of George Floyd, where he eloquently expressed his anger about the systemic racism inherent in America’s justice system on television.

“I am duty-bound to be here to simply say that it is your duty not to burn your own house down for anger with an enemy,” Killer Mike said. “It is your duty to fortify your own house so that you may be a house of refuge in times of organisation.”

“It is time to beat up prosecutors you don’t like at the voting booth,” he added. “It is time to hold mayoral offices accountable, chiefs and deputy chiefs. I’m mad as hell. I woke up wanting to see the world burn down yesterday because I am tired of seeing black men die,” he said.

“We want to see the system that sets up for systemic racism burned to the ground.”
