Run The Jewels have a knack for doing two things exceptionally well. The contrary points of writing ball-busting hip-hop set to some of the hardest beats in the business whilst still being completely stand up guys, the kind of guys you’d let look after your dog for a weekend. This is seen perfectly in their recent NPR Tiny Desk Concert.
The NPR tradition has had some great performers but none really did the job like Run The Jewels. Performing a trio of tracks from their latest album RTJ3 Killer Mike and El-P took over the tiny and made it seem even tinier next to their gigantic songs.
Hand claps, bottles of liquor, heavy beats and sharp lines means that this is one to watch.
