Rosalía teams up with Björk and Yves Tumor for new single, ‘Berghain’

Rosalía has released ‘Berghain’, the first single from her upcoming album Lux, featuring Björk and Yves Tumor.

The single comes as the first hint as to what form the album will take, after the singer announced it last week as her follow-up to Motomami, which was released three years ago.

However, Lux is seemingly representing a decadent new direction for Rosalía, as the record is set to be split into four movements, having been created alongside the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Daníel Bjarnason.

In terms of ‘Berghain’ itself, the track takes a multilingual approach between the Spanish singer and her two featured artists, as Rosalía begins singing in her native tongue before switching into German. Björk and Tumor take over the second and third verses, respectively, while singing in English.

Despite this, it is not the first time that Rosalía and Björk have worked together, with the pair having previously released a charity single named ‘Oral’ together in 2023, which campaigned against a proposed salmon farm in Iceland.

According to its press release, ‘Berghain’ is the “grand orchestral centerpiece” of the second movement of the album, taking the listener on a journey from “soft introspection to sweeping cinematic power, balancing intimacy and grandeur in a world that feels both deeply personal and boundless in scale.”

With the lead single having been co-produced by Rosalía herself alongside Noah Goldstein, Jake Miller, and Sir Dylan, it serves as a fascinating insight as to what the rest of Lux will entail. Split across its four movements and 18 tracks, the album is also set to feature fellow collaborations with a number of Spanish, Catalan, and Mexican artists, including the likes of fado singer Carminho, flamenco singer Estrella Morente, singer and composer Silvia Pérez Cruz, the Escolania de Montserrat i Cor Cambra Palau de la Música Catalana, and the Mexicana artist Yahritza.

Lux will be released on November 7th, and is available for pre-order now.
