Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever return with the swirling ‘Cars in Space’

We’re extremely happy to see the latest track from Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever return to our airwaves with a brand new shining single, ‘Cars In Space’. So much so, we’ve made it our Track of the Day.

The Melbourne outfit have shared the new single today, out on Sub Pop Records, alongside a brilliant new video which was co-directed by Far Out favourite, Julia Jacklin.

There’s no way to summarise this track for you without using the sometimes unwanted label of ‘indie-pop’. But we mean it in the kindest of ways as Rolling Blackouts C.F. have some of the most infectious guitar-driven tracks we’ve heard in a long time. ‘Cars In Space’ is yet another triumph in writing music to move your feet to.

As any good band does, Rolling Blackouts C.F. use the hazy sounds of cosmic joy to disguise the song’s obvious peril. Speaking of the track, the band’s Fran Keaney says, “In my head, this song is set inside a car. It’s the swirling words and thoughts before a break-up.”

Accompanying the single is a gorgeous sun-drenched video, directed by Nick Mckk alongside co-director Julia Jacklin. Set at an old-school Australian drive-in, the promo is full of casual charm, wit & plenty of surprises for diehard Rolling Blackouts C.F. fans.

If you’re not a fan yet, then take a listen to ‘Cars In Space’ below and come back to us with your new found perspective.
