Roles revealed for Christopher Nolan’s star-studded new movie ‘The Odyssey’
The roles for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming adaptation of The Odyssey appear to have been revealed, according to set photos taken by Greek media outlet Oneman.
The film, based on Homer’s epic poem, tells the story of Odysseus’s journey from Troy to Ithaca following the Trojan War and is set to premiere in July 2026. Several details about the cast have already been revealed to date, but Matt Damon as Odysseus is the only confirmed actor match for the role.
Now, more photos have been revealed from the set of the film after shooting took place for four days in the Peloponnese peninsula, and judging from these images, further roles appear to have been confirmed, Oneman states.
Anne Hathaway will appear opposite Damon as Penelope, Odysseus’s wife. Tom Holland will portray Telemachus, Lupita Nyongo’o as Clytemnestra, Benny Safdie as Agamemnon, Charlize Theron as Circe, and Zendaya as Athena.
Many other cast members who have been revealed as part of the upcoming film have yet to have confirmed roles attached to them. Currently, Robert Pattinson, Mia Goth, and Elliot Page’s involvement is unknown.
The Odyssey will be Nolan’s first feature film since the release of 2023’s Oppenheimer, the biopic about J. Robert Oppenheimer’s creation of the atomic bomb, which won a total of seven Academy Awards including ‘Best Picture’, ‘Best Director’, and ‘Best Actor’ for Cillian Murphy.
Production for The Odyssey began in late 2024, and filming began in February in Greece, Morocco, Italy, and the UK. At an estimated cost of $250 million, it is set to be Nolan’s most expensive film to date.
