Róisín Murphy announces remix album with new song ‘Assimilation’
Róisín Murphy has announced the forthcoming release of a new interpretation of last year’s Róisín Machine. The remixes come via a collaboration with the original record’s producer Crooked Man (aka DJ Parrot).
The album, entitled Crooked Machine, will be released digitally on April 30th and a physical release will follow on June 11th as part of Record Store Day.
“[DJ] Parrot doesn’t try to be ‘cool,’ I reckon that’s the last thing on his mind,” Murphy said in a press release regarding working with Crooked Man on the remix LP.
Going on to add, “I think Crooked Machine is one of his greatest achievements so far…. I think I prefer it to the original album, slightly less me and all the more ‘cool’ for it!”
The first single from LP is ‘Assimilation’, a reworking of ‘Simulation’ from the original record. The track is a much more layered and atmospheric reworking of the original, like the nightclubs bathroom mirror equivalent to the original dancefloor edition.
