One last swansong: Roger Daltrey announces new US solo tour and suggests it’ll be his final bow
Roger Daltrey has announced a new US tour, which he has suggested will be his final run of shows in America.
The Who frontman made the announcement of the Great Night Out Tour on May 12th, which he revealed was inspired by his band’s farewell run across North America in 2025.
When revealing the news, he said in a statement, “After finishing The Who’s final tour of the US, it’s time for me as a solo artist to possibly do the same,” before explaining what he hopes to achieve from the run of shows.
“I’ll be off the backing tracks and always searching for different soundscapes to present the songs,” Daltrey added, before noting, “It’s a lot of fun and gives me the chance to have a Great Night Out.”
The rock legend will kick off the tour on August 23rd in Mesa, Arizona, performing 20 shows in cities such as Las Vegas, Washington DC, and New York, before wrapping up on September 29th at the Chevalier Theatre in Medford, Massachusetts.
It has been just under a year since The Who bid farewell to the States themselves, where Pete Townshend told the crowd on the final night in Palm Springs, California, that they still had plans for the future, despite saying goodbye to the band.
“What Roger and I will get up to next, who knows?,” he said. “If we last any longer, I’m sure we’ll get up to all kinds of mischief. We’ll do stuff together, I’m sure sharing some stuff, all kinds of bits and pieces. But for this kind of thing, it’s goodbye. And you were last!”
In the meantime, Daltrey has managed to keep himself busy by being honoured with a knighthood at Windsor Castle in December, in recognition of his services to charity through his work with the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Tickets for Daltrey’s latest US tour will become available through various presales on May 13th and 14th at 10am local time, before general sale goes live on May 15th at 10am local time.
