Rod Stewart reveals The Faces are “struggling” to make new music

Sir Rod Stewart recently revealed that The Faces are currently “struggling” to make any new music.

The surviving members planned to make a comeback album featuring Ronnie Wood and Kenney Jones as guest stars and said they were keen to start recording something new in the summer of 2021. Fans have yet to hear anything, and Stewart has confessed that’s because he’s been writing songs for the project, but he doesn’t know what will happen to the tracks.

Stewart was asked what his favourite unreleased song is so far. He said: “I’ve sent a lot of them to Ronnie Wood. I told him, ‘This is stuff we’ve recorded with my band, maybe The Faces would like to do it instead?’ We’re still struggling to make this album. We’ll see. Some of them might see the light of day.”

The 79-year-old confessed that he has a lot of songs that fans have never heard before, and he enjoys seeing how different people react to them when they are eventually released.

He said: “There are a lot of songs I’ve written that I haven’t put out, and nobody knows about them. My songs are like my children. I gave birth to them, and then I put them out there in the world and see how they do.”

Kenney Jones has commented that he is keen on working on a Faces comeback record and wants a blend of old and new music if they are to do so. He said: “What we’ve decided to do is work on some of the original stuff that we didn’t use, so the album is going to be a mixture of old and new.”

More news on a potential comeback will follow.
