Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2024: Full list of nominees revealed

The notorious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has released its complete list of 2024 nominees, which includes Oasis, Ozzy Osbourne, Sinead O’Connor, Mariah Carey, Sade, Mary J. Blige, Jane’s Addiction, Cher and A Tribe Called Quest.

Several other finalists include Dave Matthews Band, Eric B. & Rakim, Peter Frampton, Foreigner, Lenny Kravitz and Kool & the Gang.

Many of the nominees are appearing for the very first time. Oasis, Osbourne, Carey, Cher, O’Connor, Sade, Kool & the Gang, Kravitz and Frampton have never been on the ballot for the Hall of Fame.

Ozzy was previously inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of Black Sabbath in 2006. His wife, Sharon, complained last year that Osbourne hadn’t been considered as a solo artist. “I will never beg,” she said, “And I will never ask for favours; I’ve never asked anyone for a favour. So, my thing is fuck you if you don’t realise that somebody really deserves to be here. And you don’t recognise that? Then, see ya!”

Cher is surprisingly nominated for the first time in what has been an incredibly successful career. In an interview last year, she gave her thoughts on the persistent snubbing, where she said that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame “can just go you-know-what themselves.”

The official Class of 2024 will be announced in April. A formal ceremony will take place in the fall. A voting body of more than 1000 artists, historians and members of the music industry will be in charge of putting together the official list of inductees.

People can watch the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony, which will be streamed live on Disney+.
