Richard Ashcroft claims he is “reaching the zenith” of his career after Oasis support slot
Richard Ashcroft has claimed he is “reaching the zenith” of his career due to a newfound boost of popularity off the back of his high-profile support slot on the Oasis reunion tour.
The former frontman of The Verve was speaking in a new interview with The Guardian when he reflected on his seismic year so far, before he heads back out on the road for his own headline gigs over the next few weeks and into 2026.
The singer feels that this unique ability to harness multiple generations is what is serving him strongest in this current phase of his career. “My ability to communicate to the audience is reaching the zenith,” he mused. “Everything’s so fractured, we’ve almost forgotten what it’s like to come together and have a fucking good time.”
Citing the emotion evoked in the crowd from some of his biggest hits such as ‘The Drugs Don’t Work’, Ashcroft continued: “These songs and moments have that power. There are so few spaces left on this planet where we can create that kind of energy.”
Ashcroft will begin a UK tour on November 8th at the Co-Op Live in Manchester, before heading to Cardiff, Liverpool, London, Glasgow, Leeds, Birmingham, Newcastle, and Reading from March next year.
