Rebel Wilson provides fresh update on ‘Pitch Perfect 4’

Actor Rebel Wilson has provided new details on a forthcoming fourth instalment of the popular Pitch Perfect franchise.

In a new interview, the actor who plays Patricia Hobart in the comedy series suggested that a fourth movie may finally be on the cards while reflecting on the enjoyment she experienced making the movies.

“There is one being developed,” she told BBC Radio 2’s Gaby Roslin. “I mean, I know we’re older now, so I don’t exactly know what the storyline’s going to be. I guess they’ve got to get the script right first, which is the age-old dilemma.”

Describing her experience working on the movies, she admitted she “absolutely loved” making them, adding that the cast are “all still friends” as “what people see on the screen is just us having a laugh.”

She also explained that the dynamics on set made it feel like “it wasn’t really acting” and that she “loves singing and dancing” and “hanging out with that cast so, so much.”

The movies focus on the dynamics between a group of a cappella singers, starring actors Anna Kendrick, Anna Camp, Brittany Snow, Skylar Astin and Ben Platt.

Wilson also recently released a memoir, Rebel Rising, which details her various experiences working in the film industry alongside some of Hollywood’s most reputable names.

One extract in particular, which has since been redacted in the United Kingdom and Australia, focusses on her experience acting alongside Sacha Baron Cohen under a chapter titled ‘Sacha Baron Cohen and Other Assholes’. It included reflections from the actor on feeling belittled by the star, followed by allegations he pressured her into shooting scenes she wasn’t entirely comfortable with.

However, illegalities surrounding printing falsehoods in the UK and Australia resulted in the pages being pulled. Harper Collins explained that for “legal reasons,” the company is “redacting most of one page with some other small redactions and an explanatory note”. Although it did acknowledge that “those sections are a very small part of a much bigger story.”

Following the developments, Baron Cohen’s team described the decision as “a clear victory”.
