Real Estate announce new album ‘Daniel’

New Jersey’s Real Estate have announced a new album, Daniel. Alongside the announcement of a North American tour, the new record will arrive in February 2024.

The sixth LP from the band, Daniel follows the band’s 2020 record, The Main Thing. Having only released one EP since then, in the form of the 2021 project Half A Human, new music from the band is long overdue.

Sharing a new single to welcome fans into the world of Daniel, ‘Water Underground’ is a rolling indie-folk track. More stripped back than the band’s biggest singles like ‘Darling’ or ‘It’s Real’, ‘Water Underground’ allows vocalist Martin Courtney to really shine.

Expertly backed by Julian Lynch’s lead guitar, the sliding details make the track rich and nostalgic. With that, Real Estate double down on the sentimentality with the track’s short film music video.

Inspired by The Adventures of Pete & Pete, the video stars Danny Tamberelli and Michael C. Maronna from the original series. Filmed in suburban New Jersey, it’s close to where the band and Tamberelli call home.

“Julian [Lynch], Alex [Bleeker], and Martin [Courtney] all grew up one town away from me and were actually friends with the younger siblings of my friends from Ridgewood,” said Tamberelli.

“They told me they even saw me perform at the local bandshell with some of those older siblings while I was in high school,” he continues. Reflecting on the moment of reunion, he added: “The video brings it full circle and adding my dear old friends from the show into the fold really tied it all together.”

Their sixth full-length album will arrive on February 23rd. Soon after, the band will embark on a North American tour from the start of March to the end of May.
