Rapper Rod Wave arrested on gun charges
Hip-hop star Rod Wave has been arrested on gun charges in Fulton County, Georgia.
Wave, real name Rodarius Green, was arrested and released on bail on May 21st following an incident that is alleged to have occurred last month.
The trap artist is facing 14 charges. The charges include aggravated assault, possessing and aiming a gun at someone, reckless conduct, conspiracy to commit a felony, and simple assault.
According to Rolling Stone, each of the charges relates to alleged incidents that the police claim took place on April 21st. His bond, which has been paid, was worth $50,000.
In a statement, Drew Findling, Green’s lawyer, told Rolling Stone: “There is no truth to these charges. Rod Green was a victim of a burglary and committed no crimes. How he was even charged as a result of this situation is incomprehensible. This will absolutely be resolved favorably to Mr. Green.”
Wave is yet to comment directly on the charges and Fulton County Sheriff’s Office are also yet to provide a statement.
USA Today states that Wave and his girlfriend are listed as victims of a burglary at their Georgia home on April 21st in an incident report. Milton County Police officers arrived at their home to find “neighbors were yelling and screaming outside.”
A woman was also in tears and told the officers that she had returned home to find her home had been burgled while she was out of town. She told officers Wave was not at the property but was due to return the following day. It’s unclear how this incident report relates to the charges against the rapper.
The 26-year-old has more than six million unique monthly listeners on Spotify and has released six albums in his career, including three that have reached number one on the Billboard 200.
