Radiohead omitted from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees

Now let’s put aside the fact that Radiohead almost explicitly said they did not want to be inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. That they definitely questioned it as a model of awarding alt-rock with a mainstream award. And that it was their first year of eligibility.

Let’s put all that aside and just think that one of the most innovative and integral participators of the ‘rock’ scene was dropped in favour of Jon Bon Jovi. FML.

It’s true. This year’s inductees include: Nina Simone, Bon Jovi, the Cars, Dire Straits, the Moody Blues, and Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Obviously there are some exceptions to our anger – how has Nina Simone only just been put in there is beyond us. And name me your three favourite the Cars tracks? We’ll wait.

It seems that the unbelieveable misses form the panel are kind of huge: Kate Bush, Rage Against the Machine, Depeche Mode, Eurythmics, MC5, LL Cool J, Judas Priest, the Zombies, the Meters, Link Wray, Rufus with Chaka Khan, and J. Geils Band did not make the cut this year, either. All of these artists join iconic snubbed nominees like Kraftwerk, Bad Brains, Jane’s Addiction, Nine Inch Nails, the Smiths, and Janet Jackson.

Bon Jovi for fuck’s sake.

Watch Radiohead perform at Glastonbury this year to remind you why they’re easily one of the best band son the planet. Still*
