Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien announces debut LP and shares new song ‘Shangri-La’

We recently brought you the news that Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien was venturing out on his own and releasing his debut solo record. Now the guitarist has shared the first single, ‘Shangri-La’.

The new album, called Earth will be the first album from the new O’Brien project called EOB and sees the Radiohead guitarist collaborate with some wonderful musicians.

O’Brien said in a statement: “Here’s the album.. thank you for waiting .. it’s called Earth and it’s coming out on April 17 in time for Summer.. Thank you to all the incredible musicians who helped me and the people who put it together in the studio.. it was a proper journey getting here.. Recorded in Wales and London.. Phew we made it!!”

Produced by Flood the album is set to feature Laura Marling, Portishead’s Adrian Utley, bassist Nathan East and Wilco’s Glenn Ktoche. With previous release ‘Brasil’ featuring Radiohead bandmate Colin Greenwood, and ambient number ‘Santa Teresa’ EOB could be set to have one of the best records of the year.
