Quentin Tarantino to release ‘Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair’ in cinemas for first time
Quentin Tarantino has announced that Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair will hit cinemas for the very first time this December.
The epic endeavour will combine the two part iconic revenge saga, originally released in 2003 and 2004. On December 5th, the full-length, the full series will debut in cinemas as one lengthy picture.
Tarantino shared of the project’s new life: “I wrote and directed it as one movie — and I’m so glad to give the fans the chance to see it as one movie. The best way to see Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is at a movie theater in Glorious 70mm or 35mm. Blood and guts on a big screen in all its glory!”
This new cut will remove Volume 1‘s cliffhanger ending as well as Volume 2‘s introductory recap. The film will also feature a brand-new, seven-and-a-half-minute animated sequence.
The original production was not met without danger. While filming the 2003 blockbuster, Tarantino persuaded Uma Thurman to perform a dangerous car-driving scene on set, which ended with a violent car crash. Upon reflection, Tarantino previously shared, “It was heartbreaking. Beyond one of the biggest regrets of my career, it is one of the biggest regrets of my life.”
The re-release will stretch to almost four hours in length. The film stars Thurman, Lucy Liu, Vivica A. Fox, Michael Madsen, Daryl Hannah, Gordon Liu, Michael Parks, and David Carradine. Iconic lines from the film, penned by Tarantino, include, “Revenge is never a straight line. It’s a forest, and like a forest, it’s easy to lose your way… To get lost… To forget where you came in.”
Deeming the first volume Tarantino’s fifth best project ever, Far Out observed previously, “Kill Bill is a cinematic playground showcasing Tarantino at his most free and expressive, utilising an exaggerated soundtrack and gaudy cinematography in his homage to B-movie martial-arts cinema.”
