Kendrick Lamar has become the first non-classical or jazz musician to win the Pulitzer Prize In Music. Today it has been announced that the rapper’s fourth album, DAMN has won the highly coveted award, according to Associate Press.
In the announcement the album was rightly applauded for the way Lamar effortlessly worked and achieved in portraying “the complexity of African-American life”.
The album, released in April 2017, sees Lamar not only tackle his cultural touch point with impeccable production but, influenced by jazz, soul, funk, and vintage hip-hop, impressed his own lyrical expertise and critical eye on to the beat and the world.
