Prince and Jessica Chastain to receive stars on Hollywood Walk of Fame
In the recent rollout for Hollywood Walk of Fame stars, the class of 2025 is set to include musical icon Prince as well as acclaimed actor and producer Jessica Chastain.
Both artists join the list of 30 new stars who will be added to the titular Hollywood street next year. In addition to music and film, the latest inductees come from sports, stage performance, and radio.
In a written statement for the event, Hollywood Walk of Fame chairman Peter Roth praised the recent inductees for their contribution to the arts, saying, “Each honoree truly embodies the essence of excellence in their respective fields. The committee and I cannot wait to see our honorees becoming part of this world-famous walkway!”.
In the world of music, Prince is known as one of the key figures at the turn of the 1980s. With albums like 1999 and Purple Rain, his eclectic style informed the sound of the MTV generation and beyond. He also changed the way that artists interact with their labels by turning his name into a symbol.
Though Chastain is known primarily for her acting career in movies such as The Help and Zero Dark Thirty, she has spent as much time behind the camera, working as a producer on 2023’s Memory as well as The Eyes of Tammy Faye.
Of course, Chastain is far from the only actor being bestowed the honour this year. Other members of the latest class include Colin Farrell, John Carpenter, Emilio Estevez, and Lucy Liu. The voting committee is also recognising TV personalities like The Nanny’s Fran Drescher and South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker.
In the musical category, Prince leads the stars on The Walk of Fame alongside other icons like goth icons Depeche Mode, punk rock legends Green Day, and country music legends George Strait and Keith Urban. Non-entertainment inductees also include David Beckham for sports and Adam Corolla for his impact on the world of radio.
While the artists in question have been announced, no information has since been provided regarding when their induction ceremony will be held. As part of the ceremony guidelines, each inductee picks their own date for when their stars will be unveiled, usually having up to two years to choose a certain day.
