We are very proud to premiere this brand new single ‘Maths, Science and English’ from the brilliant Bridges. Out today and the first teaser track from their up-coming EP On And On Like This which is out on September 27th via Rose Coloured Records.
Bristol’s own Bridges are back with a new line-up but a very similar energetic and driving trans-Atlantic sound on their new track ‘Maths, Science and English’. Born in the same house as Frightened Rabbit and The Gaslight Anthem the quartet clearly have their eyes set on filling the stadium-sized hole their songs demand.
Using a darker guitar sound to offset the contemplative vocal performance, ‘Maths, Science and English’ is a song about moving ahead with your ideals and values intact and feels a perfect release considering the line-up change.
Front-man Ethan explains the inspiration/writing process: “I wrote Maths when I’d moved back to my hometown for a while. I’d realised that I had lost touch with a few friends, and somewhat my family, where I had been away. That period in time I remember being a bit of a roller coaster. Though it seems like a dark sentiment at first glance, to me it feels quite the opposite; something I could say to remind the people important to me.”
With a big UK tour scheduled for October to back up their already impressive live runs with George Ezra and We Were Promised Jetpacks – 2019 could be a very important year for the boys.
