Pip Blom and her band have today shared the brand new video for their single ‘Ruby’. The song will feature on the band’s debut LP Boat which will land on 31st May. Until then though we have a new video for ‘Ruby’ and tall the vintage seaside hues it provides. It’s our Track of the Day.
A deliciously idiosyncratic track the song lilts and meanders through a litter of thematic rivers ending firmly, as all rivers do, at the seaside. Pip, the Dutch rocker at the helm of this particular boat, manages to explain the joyous experience of sea breeze in a charming indie-pop setting. The video though is a little more subversive.
Speaking on the video, director Raymond van Mil explains: “We made a few jumps in our imagination, and we were explicitly not trying to explain or illustrate the lyrics. We started with flamingos. Apperantly there are two distinct families standing some 20 meters apart on one exact place in Zeeland/the Netherlands. We went there and were in amazement, it looked so alien in the Dutch landscape. From there the ufo story unfolded and was fun. Was it a dream? A memory? A documentary? Only Pip knows.”
