We continue our build up to the inaugural BBC Radio 6 Music Festival starting on tomorrow and ending Saturday, with artists such Damon Albarn, Kelis, The National, Franz Ferdinand, Haim, James Blake all taking to stage. Despite the latter, PINS are the band to turn our heads for Far Out’s Track of the Day.
PINS shared the new video for their song ‘Waiting For The End’, the final single to be taken from their Bella Union debut album, Girls Like Us. Shot at the newly renovated, historic Manchester pub Gullivers, it features helpful karaoke-style on screen lyrics throughout so can get stuck in. Several luminaries of the Manchester music scene appear on stage with PINS, aping Northern club singers of yore.
Having previously caught our eye during their superb performance in Leeds a while back, PINS are starting to make us look good having featured them in our Retrospective Look Into the Future. The Manchester four-piece are a perfect example of how four clearly supremely talented individual musicians can blend together as one mutual project.
Faith Holgate on vocals has the ability to lift the band to another level if ever required with her mesmerising stage presence reminiscent of Karen-O, accompanied by Lois McDonald’s expert skills on lead guitar, Anna Donigan on Bass and Sophie Galpin causing a storm of her own drums.
If you can’t make it to the 6 Music Festival this weekend you can listen on air and or catch up live and on demand at www.bbc.co.uk/6music. For now though, turn it up to 10 and lose your shit.
