Phoebe Bridgers announces last-minute Madison Square Garden show: here’s everything you need to know
Phoebe Bridgers has unexpectedly announced a last-minute show taking place at Madison Square Garden in New York this week.
The news was revealed via the website Tidal on June 1st, which is the company presenting the show this Thursday, June 4th.
Due to the extremely short three-day window that fans have before the show, they have the opportunity to register for tickets for as little as $1. The ticket ballot is open until 11.59pm EDT tonight (June 1st).
Fans have the choice of registering for either one or two tickets, costing them either $1, $5, $10, or $20, with all proceeds being donated to the Immigration Bond Freedom Fund, which is currently working to pay the bonds of people trapped in ICE civil detention centres.
However, the website notes that fans who choose to donate a higher amount of money do not have a better chance of securing tickets to the show. Instead, there will be a random allocation where concert-goers could be assigned any seat in the arena, and will find out if they have been successful in their request for tickets by June 2nd at 1pm EDT, at which point their cards will be automatically charged.
Notably, the show will be completely device-free, with “No cellphones, smart watches, smart glasses, cameras, or recording devices allowed.” Lockable pouches from Yondr will be used to achieve this.
Despite this, the terms and conditions for the show state that fans must consent to being recorded “audiovisually”, hence raising the prospect that the show could be recorded professionally in some capacity.
The show is likely to spark massive speculation among Bridgers’ fans that her official comeback could be imminent, with her already having performed two similarly intimate and phone-free, but much smaller-scale shows in Lubbock, Texas, and Roswell, New Mexico, in May.
As part of these performances, Bridgers performed hits such as ‘Kyoto’ and ‘I Know the End’ from her most recent album, Punisher, before premiering four new songs.
Although details of these have not yet been made publicly available, it is rumoured that one of the tracks could be called ‘The Lost Boys’.
