Peter Hook and The Light To Perform Entire Joy Division Collection

One of our favourite people the imperious Peter Hook has been fairly relentless over the last few years playing with his band The Light, in many cases playing full albums of his former projects Joy Division and New Order. Next Month Hook and The Light are set to explore this avenue further by playing Joy Division’s Closer and Unknown Pleasure in their complete and wondrous entirety.

To make this even more poignant they are going to cap it all off by playing the complete catalogue of Joy Division in a befitting 18th Century Church. Title ‘So This Is Permanence’ (taken from a lyric in ‘Twenty Four Hours’) will take place in Ian Curtis, the majestic late frontman’s Hometown of Macclesfield. Dedicated to Curtis as by way of tribute to his talent they event will take place on May 18th, the 35 year anniversary of his death.

Likely to include rarities like ‘Still’ and other creeping b-side the show has heart at it’s base. Not least for the emotions Hook is bound to experience but the church is said to have been attended by Curtis as a boy. Add to all that the proceeds will be going to these fantastic causes  Epilepsy Society and Churches Conservation Trust. This sounds like it will be a beautiful event, from one of the roughest men in rock and roll.
