'Pet Sematary' remake adds new cast members

There have already been multiple film adaptations of Stephen King’s famous 1983 horror novel Pet Sematary. Although the most recent edition was released in 2019 and starred the likes of John Lithgow and Jason Clarke, another addition to the film series is already being scheduled by Paramount. After the commercial success of the 2019 version which earned a worldwide total of $113.1 million, Paramount is looking to cash in on the franchise yet again.

While details about the project haven’t been confirmed yet, some big names are already attached to the new Pet Sematary film including screenwriter Lindsey Beer who is set to direct it. This will be her directorial debut, after writing screenplays for projects like Sierra Burgess Is a Loser, Chaos Walking and Transformers: The Last Night.

“It’s a double-edged sword,” Beer has said of being a woman in Hollywood. “I definitely notice it every day and every meeting and there are opportunities I get because I am a woman and there are opportunities I am shut out of because I am a woman and you just kind of take what you can get and fight every day, [knowing] that you have to be twice as smart and work twice as hard and push twice as much.”

Pet Sematary’s new cast appears to be star-studded as well, featuring the star of Coffy and Jackie Brown – Pam Grier. The cast already includes Jack Mulhern, Natalie Alyn Lind, Jackson White, Forrest Goodluck and Isabella Star LeBlanc, with the addition of new members Henry Thomas and Samantha Mathis. With all the recent developments, the Pet Sematary remake definitely comes across as a promising project. Although many have claimed that the new film is going to be a prequel, neither the studio nor the artists have confirmed anything yet.
