At least 30 people injured outside Hollywood nightclub after car rams into crowd

At least 30 people have been injured after a car ran into a crowd outside The Vermont Hollywood, a nightclub on West Santa Monica Boulevard in East Hollywood, Los Angeles.

The car crash occurred at around 2am local time on July 19th outside of a nightclub hosting a “trapeton” party. Subsequently, seven people are in critical condition and six others are in serious condition, TMZ reports. Gunshots were reportedly heard at around the time of the crash, too.

“There was a vehicle that had somebody lose consciousness inside. Drove into a taco cart and ultimately ran into a large number of people who were outside of the club,” said Adam VanGerpen, public information officer for the Los Angeles City Fire Department.

“It is still unconfirmed, but we have reports that there was a gunshot wound in one of the patients. There was a patient inside the vehicle. They were able to extricate that patient. That’s still ongoing with the investigation,” VanGerpen added.

VanGerpen also said that a line of people, mainly consisting of females, were waiting to enter a nightclub when a Nissan Versa struck them. People inside the club came out to help in the minutes before emergency crews arrived. Inside, the event was billed as “So-Cal’s Biggest Reggaeton & Hip-Hop Party,” went on.

TMZ also reported “a physical altercation ensued, with a bystander using what is believed to be a silver revolver to shoot the driver.” One of the patients had a gunshot wound, the paramedics revealed. However, the victim has yet to be identified, and it is unclear if that victim was connected to the crash.

Two workers in the hot-dog stand near the club, a married couple, are among the 30 people injured as a result of the crash.

The Los Angeles Police Department continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
