Paul McCartney’s one-word review of Oasis in Los Angeles: “Fabulous”

Paul McCartney has said Oasis‘ concert at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles on September 6th was a “fabulous” show.

McCartney was one of many famous faces who turned up in Tinseltown to watch the Gallagher brothers play their biggest Californian concert at the Pasadena venue, which they also played a day later on September 7th.

Billie Eilish also shared footage on social media of her enjoying Oasis in the pit with regular fans alongside her family, including brother Finneas. Other notable names in attendance over the weekend included Leonardo DiCaprio, Kristen Stewart, Salma Hayek, Mark Zuckerberg, and Metallica frontman James Hetfield.

However, nobody in the Rose Bowl was more VIP than McCartney, who was even caught on camera by a fellow fan filming ‘Little By Little’.

After the concert, as McCartney made his way to a vehicle waiting for him outside of the venue, he was asked by paparazzi for his thoughts on the show, to which he replied, “Fabulous”.

Famously, McCartney once said to the New Statesman in 1997 of Oasis: “They’re derivative, and they think too much of themselves. I hope for their sakes they’re right. But they really mean nothing to me.”

However, they soon overcame this comment and became friends. In Supersonic, Liam Gallagher revealed that McCartney was the only artist who ever made him starstruck, sharing, “I was never fazed by [celebrities] because I was never impressed by it. Only Paul McCartney. We were in LA, and he was mega, and I was proper freaked out by it, but he was great. Anyone else I was never starstruck by.”

Liam also once shared the following hilarious anecdote about The Beatles legend: “I’ve met him a few times he’s been absolutely a dream. The last time was at the Royal Albert Hall. He goes, ‘Why are you always in a rush? Sit down, sit down’. I sit down and he goes, ‘Do you like margaritas?’ I said, ‘Yeah, but I had something before I come out, I don’t eat at this time of night’. He said, ‘They’re fuckin’ drinks, you stupid prick’. I thought he was offering me a pizza.”

Oasis have now concluded their run of US dates; they will now play two dates at the GNP Seguros Stadium in Mexico City before returning to the UK for two Wembley Stadium shows later this month. More concerts will follow later this year in South Korea, Japan and Australia.
