If you ever needed another reason to fall in love with Patti Smith then last night’s rare late night show appearance on Jimmy Fallon is that reason. Smith chatted with Fallon and even performed a cover of Neil Young’s ‘After The Goldrush’.

Yesterday’s ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’ was full of Smiths with Will Smith also on the guestlist for the evening’s show. But Patti Smith stole the show with her honest and authentic interview with Fallon.

In the chat between the always-chortling Fallon and Smith, the singer discussed her new book Year of the Monkey and described how she’s “always writing”.

The Godmother of Punk also shared some sweet stories from her memoirs including her viral picture posing with Keanu Reeves and being mean to her longtime friend Bob Dylan.

The real winning moment came with Smith’s impeccable cover of Neil Young’s ‘After The Goldrush’ – cover are, after all, a bit of a specialist are for Smith, having given us some of our favourites across the years.
