Parquet Courts release new track ‘Black And White’

A while back, we brought you the new Parquet Courts full-length Sunbathing Animal, which came out this week via Rough Trade Records.

Now, though, the Brooklyn-based band have released our favourite track of the album as their newest single, with an accompanying video, ‘Black and White’.

The video itself was directed by Parquet Courts member Austin Brown and Johann Rashid, a Melbourne-based artist who has directed videos for the likes of UV Race, Eddy Current Suppression Ring and others.

Apparently, inspired by the experimental films of William Burroughs and Brion Gysin, they set out with the intention to represent the depth and complexity of the personal stories which exist in a simple city stroll.

Filmed on Andrew Savage from the band’s street in Bed Stuy, Brooklyn, the video ends looking into the room in where the chillin’ cat from the ‘Sunbathing Animal’ video was filmed.
