Paris Texas, the new electronic indie project based out of L.A., have announced the release of their debut LP Boy Anonymous. On top of that piece of news, the group also dropped a single from the upcoming release, the supremely chill ‘Force Of Habit’.
The braggadocio ever-present on the group’s other efforts is on display here as well. When you open your song with the lines “Walk around like I’m the shit/I think it’s a force of habit”, there’s nothing to be subtle about.
There isn’t a ton of information on the duo who, consisting of Louie Pastel and Felix, who released a few singles, an occasional press release, a band photo or two, and a whole lot of mystery. There’s a fair chance that the duo won’t be able to remain out of the spotlight for long, though. If their as of right now three singles have anything to say about it, Paris Texas will probably be a force to be reckoned with very soon.
The sound of the duo is a potent blend of electronica, hip-hop beats, soulful vocals, speak-sung verses, distorted samples, and heavy guitar. It’s weird, unique, and occasionally beautiful.
‘Force Of Habit’ is in the perfect median between the aggressiveness of the first single ‘Heavy Metal’ and the uptempo vibing of the second single ‘Situations’. Boisterously confident and oddly relaxing, the flow of the two band members essential boils down to one message: you better keep watch because Paris Texas soldiers are about to stage a coup.
