
Ozzy Osbourne reveals he’s in training ahead of Black Sabbath reunion: “It really is like starting from scratch”
Ozzy Osbourne has revealed he’s currently in training ahead of returning to the stage this summer with Black Sabbath for their farewell show.
The final show of Osbourne’s career will see the rock icon perform double duty, taking on a short solo set before reuniting with the original line-up of Black Sabbath for the first time in 20 years. Taking place on July 5th at Villa Park in Black Sabbath’s hometown of Birmingham, they will be supported by heavy-hitters including Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Halestorm, Alice In Chains, Lamb Of God, Anthrax, Tool, Guns N’ Roses and Mastodon.
All profits from the show will be shared equally between the following charities: Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorn Children’s Hospice, a Children’s Hospice supported by Aston Villa.
With less than three months to go before Osbourne bids farewell to performing live, the singer, who suffers from Parkinson’s, has now revealed that he’s preparing for the comeback, which is currently his number one priority.
During the latest episode of SiriusXM’s Ozzy Speaks with Billy Morrison, Osbourne explained to his co-host of his fitness regime: “Well, I mean heavy training for this Aston Villa thing that’s coming up. I haven’t done anything for, this will be seven years, and so I’ve been through all this surgery. It really is like starting from scratch.”
When asked to discuss his training in more detail, Osbourne added, “Well, it’s endurance training. The first thing to go when you’re laid up is your stamina, so believe it or so, I’m doing two sets of three-minute walks and weight training. I’m going and going you know.”
Osbourne also said: “Well, I’m waking up in my body, you know. I mean, three minutes to you, for instance, is nothing, but I’ve been laying on my back recovering from umpteen surgeries.”
In a previous health update on his SiriusXM show, broadcast on February 5th, Osbourne shared: “I have made it to 2025. I can’t walk, but you know what I was thinking over the holidays? For all my complaining, I’m still alive.”
Therefore, Osbourne’s completion of two sets of three-minute walks and participation in weight training show that the rock icon is making strong progress ahead of his highly anticipated return to Birmingham.
