Montreal band, Ought, have a habit of stopping us in our tracks. Whether it be the delicate tings of emotion they add to their shoegaze-laden sound, or in this instance, for dropping a stream of their new album a day early.
The band have become firm favourites here in the office with their recent tracks ‘These Three Things’, ‘Desire’ and ‘Disgraced In America’, which all held a certain something which felt truly fresh. No mean feat, considering they reside in a genre of music so often held to high standards.
The album Room Inside The World, is due out for release tomorrow (Friday 16th February) via Merge Records, but can be streamed right now via the band’s website here.
The challenging and pleasing sound the band produce is the feature of most of the tracks. This is no identikit indie output here, the current crop of songs to pick from offer something intricate and layered, all punctuated with Tim Darcy’s brilliant vocal.
Take a listen to the album and get ready for the full Far Out review tomorrow.
