Oscars 2026: Full nominations revealed as ‘Sinners’ makes awards history with 16 nods

The Hollywood award season is back in full swing, and now, the nominations for the Oscars 2026 have been revealed.

The nominations were unveiled in Los Angeles on January 22nd, with actors Lewis Pullman and Danielle Brooks hosting the ceremony this year.

It marks the most highly anticipated awards in the Hollywood calendar, with many strong contenders and hits from the past year on the big screen vying for nominations.

Among those leading the nominations are the films One Battle After Another, Marty Supreme, and Hamnet, with each of their lead stars also receiving nods in each of the acting categories, respectively.

However, it was a surprise for Sinners, which only won two awards at the Golden Globes, to become the most nominated film of the year, leading the pack with 16 nods in total. In turn, this has also created a new record in Oscars history.

Across the acting categories, there were no major surprises for the most part, but Wagner Moura became the first Brazilian to be nominated for the ‘Best Actor’ Oscar for his role in The Secret Agent.

Elsewhere, Timothée Chalamet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jessie Buckley, and Teyana Taylor were all nominated as expected in each of their categories, representing three of the biggest films of the year.

It follows a precedent given that Chalamet, Buckley, and Taylor each won big for their films at the recent Golden Globes, although interestingly it was Chalamet who beat out DiCaprio to the prize for ‘Best Male Actor in a Musical or Comedy Film’ at that event, so the Oscars is also likely to bring up some possible snubs on the night.

The official Oscars ceremony, where the winners will finally be revealed, is not set to take place until March 15th, with US comedian and talk show host Conan O’Brien once again taking on hosting duties.
