Oscars 2019: The Academy announces shortlist for ‘Best Original Score’
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has now announced the 15 scores that will be in contention for victory at the 2019 Oscars.
Fifteen scores will advance in the Original Score category for the 91st Academy Awards. One hundred fifty-six scores were eligible in the category. Members of the Music Branch vote to determine the shortlist and the nominees.
Alexandre Desplat, who won the gong last year for his work with Shape Of Water, is again shortlisted for his score created in collaboration with Wes Anderson for Isle of Dogs.
Nicholas Brittell is in the unusual position of being nominated twice for his scores for both Vice and If Beale Street Could Talk. Despite being nominated for ‘Best Original Song’, Thom Yorke’s score debut for horror remake Suspiria has not made the cut.
