Oscars 2019: Kendrick Lamar and SZA will now not perform at ceremony

The news has reached us today that Kendrick Lamar and SZA will now not perform their nominated song ‘All The Stars’ at this weekend’s Academy Awards. Although the reasons are unclear as to why, Lamar and SZA will be the only nomination to not perform their song.

The song which featured in Black Panther is one of five tracks to get the nod in the Best Original Song category to be up for an Oscar, with the likes of Lady Gaga and Mark Ronson also being nominated. Traditionally every artist is invited to perform their song at the ceremony but Lamar and SZA have declined the invite citing, as Variety reports, “logistics and timing”.

Lamar was also reportedly one of the acts to turn down performing at the Grammys. With the star seemingly turning his back on the mainstream awards and instead focusing on his music or other projects we’re excited to see what’s down the line for Lamar.
