Orville Peck joins Wasserman exodus amid CEO’s links to Epstein files
Orville Peck has become the latest artist to exit Wasserman Music amid Casey Wasserman’s connection to the Epstein files.
Wasserman, who founded and works as CEO of the global music talent agency, was named several times in the three million files that were released by the Department of Justice in relation to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein on January 30th.
The CEO, who is also facing calls to resign from his position as chair of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, communicated heavily over email with Ghislaine Maxwell in the early 2000s. She was later jailed in 2022 for 20 years for conspiring with Epstein to sexually abuse minors.
As a result of Wasserman’s connection to Epstein, Chappell Roan, one of the biggest names on the agency’s artist roster, announced she was leaving the agency earlier this week, stating, “No artist, agent or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict so deeply with our own moral values.”
Additionally, Wednesday also left Wasserman and explained, “Continuing to be represented by a company led by and named after Casey Wasserman goes against our values and cannot continue”.
Now, the exodus has grown with country-pop singer Peck departing Wasserman. Taking to Instagram, he wrote, “In light of the recent findings regarding Casey Wasserman, I have made the decision to no longer be represented by the Wasserman talent agency.”
He added, “My heartfelt thanks goes out to my personal team, some of whom I have respected, trusted and worked with for close to a decade.”
Peck concluded, “I leave with a huge amount of compassion for the rest of the agents and staff at the agency, who are being left with a situation that impacts all of our work and livelihoods.”
Wasserman is currently facing calls for him to step down from his position at the company, with Best Coast’s Beth Cosentino issuing an open letter last week, writing, “This is a call for him to step down and a change of business name be imminent.”
Cosentino has been supported by Sleigh Bells’ Alexis Krauss, and Dropkick Murphys, the latter of which have now left Wasserman.
Notably, the Wasserman roster is no longer available to view on the agency’s website.
After his name emerged in the Epstein files, Wasserman apologised publicly for his communication with Maxwell, stating, “I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell which took place over two decades ago, long before her horrific crimes came to light.”
Wasserman added, “I never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. As is well documented, I went on a humanitarian trip as part of a delegation with the Clinton Foundation in 2002 on the Epstein plane. I am terribly sorry for having any association with either of them.”
